One of the many advantages to Internet delivery of ELM course units
is the opportunity to address the needs of individual participants
in an educational setting. Our targeted feedback loop ensures that
learning time is focused away from subjects in which a participant
has demonstrated understanding and capability, and toward those
legal issues and concepts with which they are less familiar.
After guiding the participant through basic case studies and demonstrations
of legal principle, the ELM courseware administers a comprehensive
test to quantify the participants comprehension of the overriding
legal principles that expose, or protect, them from risk in a clinical
setting. Successful retention of those principles is rewarded with
passing that particular unit and graduation to the next course designated
by their institution. If understanding is not demonstrated than
supplemental material is provided, guided and tested. In this way,
the course structure ensures that the principles are understood
clearly and will be applied correctly when that healthcare provider
is faced with a clinical decision.
